Newest EN ISO20345:2022 Safety Footwear Standards
EN ISO 20345:2022 specifies the basic and optional requirements for safety footwear to protect wearers from
workplace injuries. The footwear features safety elements like 200J impact and 15kN compression protection for toes, as well as anti-slip, puncture resistance, and anti-static properties. The standard classifies safety footwear into different levels to ensure appropriate protection in various work environments.
Key Updates in the 2022 Edition:
EN ISO 20345 was updated on September 30, 2022 and is now a harmonized standard providing presumptive conformity to the Essential Health and Safety Requirements (EHSRs) of EU Regulation 2016/425.
After May 11, 2023, manufacturers must certify products using the new 2022 version. There is a transition period until November 11, 2024, after which the old standard can no longer provide presumptive conformity.
Notable changes include new marking categories:
- SB is the base level meeting all basic requirements, including anti-slip on ceramic tiles with detergent.
- S3L/S3S, S5L/S5S, S7L/S7S have the same functions as S3/S5/S7 but use non-metal midsoles.
- Changes to marking categories and slip resistance requirements require particular attention.
